Required materials
Nothing crazy. Just a few things:
- An Android phone, running Android 8+. (Pretty much any phone made in the last several years will work.)
- Your SMSDora account. If you don't have one yet, go sign up, then come back here.
- An SMS credit on a SIM. This phone is going to be doing the texting, so it needs to be able to send SMS messages.
Install SMSDora on your phone
Download the APK to your phone
Open SMSDora in your browser, navigate to the Devices page, and click the download button. The APK file will download to your Android phone. Open the file you downloaded and click install. (Android will warn you that you're installing from outside the Play Store. This is expected! Just proceed with the install.)
Grant permissions
The first thing the app will ask you is to grant SMS sending and notification permissions. Go ahead and allow both. The phone needs these permissions to do its job.
Log into SMSDora with Google
Sign in with Google
Tap Sign in with Google and choose the account you used to log into SMSDora in your web browser. That's all there is to device pairing. No QR codes, no token copying.
If everything went well, jump back to your browser and you should see your phone show up on the Devices list in a few seconds.
Where to go from here
Alright! You now have a fully functional SMS gateway. Most people at this point will either send a message to themselves to confirm everything's working, or dive right into creating their first campaign. Both are fine directions to take.
